The Definition of a Blog and Hyperventilation

In an effort to somewhat stay connected with people here in Lubbock and other places, I have jumped on the blogging bandwagon! This should also be a good way to chronicle the great adventure of "travel nursing" on which I hope to embark very soon! I hope to do this for at least a year, maybe up to two or longer. I am currently in the process of saying goodbye to coworkers and friends here, so I thought now is the time to start this up and keep everybody updated.

I have no first assignment . . . I turned in my official "resignation" paperwork today and may have hyperventilated for a couple minutes as I realized I am "jobless." I have no idea how long I will be without my first assignment. My goal is to start my first assignment in the middle of September, but, I am fully prepared to be on "vacation" for up to a month. "They" say it's more difficult to get your first assignment but once you do, "you can pretty much write your ticket to anywhere." I may just have to take whatever I can get for the first assignment. I have to be prepared to go within a week of when I receive word of being offered an assignment.

So, currently, I am trying to figure out what to pack. My apartment will be furnished and provided by the agency. However, there will be no plates, silverware, towels, bedding, etc. Because I don't really know what to pack, I have not done much packing! Do I take only seasonal clothes? If so, I have to go back to storage every season and get my out-of-season clothes . . . Do I take my bike? My backpacking pack? My camping equipment? My ski equipment? So much to think about! I don't like this part of this but I am sure preparing will be much easier with experience.

Although I'm extremely nervous and have moments of hyperventilation when I realize this is actually happening, I am getting very excited and ready to get on the road. I think it will be difficult to be in a new place with a new church, new friends, and new work environment. I realize the places I will be going will be short-staffed, perhaps for a negative reason, and, as a result, I might be in a negative and tense work environment. I am trying to prepare myself. : ) However, this will be an amazing opportunity for growth professionally and personally. I'm excited!

I feel like I should sign this off like a letter. What do you say at the end of a blog entry?!

Bye all and be blessed! Thanks for reading! : ) Love somebody today!
